SAPP: People look forward to the economic stimulus package

Kota Kinabalu, Wednesday, February 26, 2020

The best news to come out in the midst of all the current political mess at the national level is that the Prime Minister (Interim) will go ahead and announce a package of economic stimulus package tomorrow at 4pm as originally scheduled.

This good news is contrary to what the ex-Finance Minister had said that the economic package will be delayed. The rakyat, especially the business community, look forward to positive news when the economic package is announced tomorrow. The package of economic measures aims to address the negative impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on the economy which has wreaked havoc on an already weak economy.

The economy was hit hard again when the KL Composite Index of the (stock market) fell due to the latest political turmoil at the national level. It is expected that more investors will leave the country. Domestic investment will be put on hold until the political mess is sorted out.

It is common knowledge that ordinary people are suffering and struggling to make ends meet. Therefore, the political leaders of all parties should stop their play of high drama and power grab. The leaders should bring a quick end to the political game play so that everyone can focus on reviving the economy and bring a better livelihood to ordinary people.

If the political power play continues, then more and more people will demand a refund of their donations to the Tabung Harapan that was set up by the new Federal government in 2018 to solicit donations from the public to help pay for the national debt.
